TRCP SUMMER CAMPS

Camps are separate from our Junior Players production. Attending camp is encouraged, but not required to participate as a Junior Player.  

2023 Junior Players auditions June 24 and 25.  Production dates August 3-5 and 10-12.

Backstage Ninjas​

June 12 - 16, 2023

9:00AM to 3:00PM Monday - Friday

Ages: 12-17

Tuition: $150


Backstage Ninjas is an intensive, immersive one-week workshop designed to teach and hone the skills necessary to be part of the backstage and technical crew.  Being on stage is only one aspect of a show, and an actor is only as good as her crew. As Backstage Ninjas, you will learn how to provide the support needed to make a show possible in this behind-the-scenes technical intensive.

Outcomes and Goals:

• Learn the basics of lighting and how to operate a light board

• Learn the basics of light design including mixing colors

• Learn how to run a soundboard and the basics of mixing

• Learn the basics of Set Design and Back Stage Managing

• Learn how to determine costume needs based on the script, including the year and season in which the play takes place, and the setting and location of the play

• Learn how to read the script for notes about props and learn how to find props that fit the needs of the actions in a show.

This Summer camp is designed to teach skills and highlight the talents of the behind-the-scenes crew. Our qualified staff provides the best in theater knowledge.

Students will attend this camp from 9:00 am-3:00 pm Monday through Friday for the one-week

period.

Please also note: Backstage Ninja students are required to have a higher level of maturity suitable for working with power tools and backstage sets. Please consider if this is an appropriate camp for your camper.


What’s On Broadway! Advanced Musical Theater Camp

June 12 - 16, 2023

9:00AM to 3:00PM Monday - Friday

Ages: 12-17

Tuition: $150


What’s On Broadway! Advanced Musical Theater Camp is an intensive, immersive one-week workshop. Students will learn vocals, drama, and choreography culminating in a showcase onstage! They will also hone audition skills and learn the ins and outs of healthy theater goals.

Our qualified staff provides the best in theater knowledge using current Broadway hits including music from Sweeney Todd, Dear Evan Hansen, and Moulin Rouge. Come be part of this exciting intensive!


Students will attend this camp from 9:00 am-3:00 pm Monday through Friday for the one-week period.

Every camper will need to complete a registration packet to attend and receive a camp t-shirt.


Disney Spectacular

06/19 - 6/23

Ages: 4-6 Sidekicks

Ages: 7-12 Heroes And Villains

Disney Spectacular is a one-week day camp that is designed to create a hands-on musical theater experience and is focused on building performance skills, self-confidence, and teamwork. We will be experiencing uplifting music, from your favorite Disney musicals, that will encourage our campers to look for the wonder and possibilities in their life every day!

Camp days will be filled with Broadway-themed musical theater workshops focusing on voice, dance, drama, and behind-the-scenes skills. Campers will enjoy making new friends as they build self-confidence and vital performance skills that are useful in all areas of everyday life. Team-building time, wacky-themed days, and high-energy competitive games will also be incorporated, promising you the best experience of your summer!

All campers must complete a registration packet to attend and receive a camp t-shirt. 

About Our Camp Staff


Director Mary Yost spent 12 years teaching, directing, and coordinating youth theater in Houston, TX. She has worked with Summer Camps and is focused on high levels of energy, skills, and fun while implementing measures of safety and professionalism. She believes theater is a wonderful way to help build confidence and personal growth in our young people.


All staff members are thoroughly vetted and trained to give your camper a safe and quality camping experience. Our staff have years of accumulated theater and teaching knowledge and we are excited to impart this knowledge to your camper.


All camp staff and camp volunteer staff are background checked and must complete a certification in safety.


Joining us this summer will be Jacob Huff. Jacob has been doing shows with TRCP for just under a decade. He steals the show with quirky characters and accents, such as Pinnochio from Shrek the Musical, The Scottish Hitman from Unnecessary Farce, and Jack from Into the Woods. Jacob also has experience with improv theater and junior show production. He is also a staff member of Three Rivers Area Mentoring and enjoys working with students of all ages.


Isabelle Yost is a High School Theater Teacher from Houston with a BS is Music and a BA in Musical Theater. She has an extensive resume both on and off the stage. She is an ardent advocate for young people and enjoys watching them grow through their theater journey. Isabelle has been teaching and directing camps for seven years.


Melanie Eickhoff is used to being seen on and off the stage and currently serves on the TRCP board of directors. She is heading up our Backstage Ninjas with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Melanie graduated in 2018 from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in technical theatre. She has been doing shows at the TRCP since Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 2006. After graduation, she returned to her roots to continue doing theatre in Three Rivers. She loves everything about live theatre and is very excited to be teaching the next generation of theatrical technicians!


Mary Ramsower is our Camp Coordinator. Mary is from Spring, TX and has handled as many as 800 campers in a summer. She is a wealth of knowledge and knows how to navigate all things camp related. She believes that theater allows students to have fun and grow in confidence while developing their craft through the different theater disciplines.
